Nova Scotia born, Toronto based singer-songwriter, Molly Thomason announced today that she will join legendary rock group Collective Soul on their Canadian tour in the coveted opening slot. Kicking off in Nanaimo, BC on April 1st, the national tour will see 11 stops across the country, wrapping in Thunder Bay, ON, on April 15th.

With an edge and infectious likability that has everybody talking, Thomason released her new album Columbus Field on February 4th. First single “Buttons” is a fast-paced, hook-filled track that showcases her powerful and melodic vocals. To view the video for “Buttons” click here.

The album – one part pop, one part rock, bares lyrics you’d expect from someone much older than Thomason’s 19 years. Her third record in four years Columbus Field unveils Thomason’s Tegan and Sara like adeptness at setting sensitive sentiments to pretty pop melodies. Her collaboration with John-Angus Macdonald (The Trews), not only as a producer but also on lead guitar has served to make Columbus Field one of the must-hear albums of the year. A follow-up to 2011’s Beauty Queen, this album exemplifies the ‘pretty yet gritty’ style that Thomason fans have come to love.

Couple Thomason’s impressive writing abilities with her undeniable charisma on-stage and it’s no surprise that she has been on the receiving end of a number of accolades in her short but poignant career. Tirelessly working to achieve her dreams, Thomason has received multiple nominations for both the Music Nova Scotia and East Coast Music Awards and has achieved finalist slots in the John Lennon Songwriting and International Song contests. She won Young Performer of the Year at the 2011 Canadian Folk Music Awards, the “She’s the One” competition at the 2012 Ottawa Bluesfest and the Emerging Artist Series at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI in 2013. Youth In Motion also named her one of Canada’s Top 20 Under 20 for her work as a human rights activist.
